A quick guide to corporate licensing programs

August 10, 2009 Open Innovation No Comments

Corporate licensing programs hold an increasingly important role in the further development of open innovation. I did a little research on such programs and this is what I found.

Applied Materials

Applied Materials spends approximately $1B each year on research and development to help ensure process and product leadership. These activities generate many technologies that potentially have applications beyond the domains for which they were developed. Those interested in leveraging these innovations to new areas might benefit by licensing technologies from Applied, possibly resulting in lower product development costs, faster market penetration, and accelerated revenue growth for the licensee.

DuPont Technology Bank

TechnologyBank™ is the window into DuPont for access to its technology and know-how. DuPont Intellectual Assets and Licensing wants to assist you in facilitating this technology transfer and we are open to exploring the various possibilities.

HP’s Intellectual Property Licensing

HP’s Intellectual Property Licensing group is responsible for licensing HP’s diverse IP portfolio, including technology, patents, brand, trademarks and copyrights. We invite you to contact us if you think your business would benefit from licensing the right mix of our IP.

IBM Almaden Research Center Technology Licensing

Technology licensing is a key element in our value creation strategy and a source of significant mutual benefits for IBM Research Division and its external partners. Many of the technologies in the Almaden Projects section of this site are available for license and integration into your own company’s products or services.

Microsoft  Intellectual Property Licensing Group

The Microsoft Intellectual Property (IP) Licensing Group was created to help jumpstart the efforts of software partners, hardware partners, startups and entrepreneurs. Whether you need essential software building blocks or entirely new technologies, Microsoft can help you create your next big thing.

Philips Intellectual Property and Standards

On this site, you can find information about our broad range of licensing products and services and activities such as standardization, trademarks, domain names and designs. In addition this website will give you information about the organization behind the Philips’ IP&S business, such as office and contact details, backgrounders on actual topics and latest news.

Shell Global Solutions

Suleyman Ozmen, General Manager of Licensing, explains, “We specialise in developing and licensing innovative services and technology solutions from one operator to another. Our experience, as part of an operating company, means that the technology transfer to the licensee delivers improved returns for the project and a successful operation. This is one of our key advantages compared to others in the licensing industry.”
