Senior leadership position in Innovation with leading consumer durables manufacturer.

This concerns a technology leadership role within the Consumer Lifestyle (CL) Sector of Philips Electronics in The Netherlands. CL is a Euro 10 bn business, which includes the more traditional consumer electronics categories (TV, audio, video), as well as consumer durables like the Philishave or the Sonicare toothbrush. Philips Consumer Lifestyle is strongly pursuing a ‘health and wellbeing’ strategy.

Philips CL has a 2,500 person Innovation & Development organization. Directly reporting to its leader, Antonio Hidalgo, our client is looking for someone to lead the newly created High Impact Innovation group. Today this is a group of some 300 people, but the plan is to grow this to 4-500 in the near future.

The main objective of this group is to establish the bridge between the Marketing teams (within the product groups) and the Development organizations. At the same time, this group will also liaise with Philips’ Corporate Technology organization, in order to deploy the latest and most advanced technologies that have been developed there. Last but not least, this group should also be the conduit to the outside world, via an approach of Open Innovation.

Candidates should bring a combination of business/strategic and consumer centric approach with demonstrated technology leadership. Under their leadership, and based on these competencies, a number of (demonstrable) value creating innovations should have been brought to market.
