The Complexity – and Opportunities – in Ecosystems

April 27, 2011 Open Innovation 3 Comments

At a recent session, Rick Wielens, VP Marketing & Sales at NineSigma presented how NineSigma views an ecosystem.

I like the image as it gives a good understanding on the many relationships to be build and nurtured in open innovation efforts. It also shows that ecosystems are complex, but full of opportunities.

Let me know if you can share links to good articles or images on ecosystems.

  1. I'm a bit confused with this diagram, who needs to develop the relationships? Me or the organization? I agree that is a good visual representation of the whole innovation process, I think it's based on the proven Mental Maps.

    Thanks for sharing.

I disagree- this diagram does not represent innovation process or relationship. It only indicates number of entities that MIGHT be engaged in the innovation.—

What is more important is -how: the thought process, individual's role and value.

      Lot more to do!!! Jitu

I think that there's an implied inversion at times. "You" is often a "small entrepreneurial company" trying to expand inside the mass while being treated as something outside.
